The Challenge

SuperCatch set out to build the world's premier trading card marketplace, competing with established platforms like TCGPlayer and eBay in a collectibles market worth billions. They needed a platform that could handle multi-vendor storefronts, integrate with all major grading services (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC), support AI-powered card identification from photos, and provide the trust and safety infrastructure required for high-value collectible transactions. No off-the-shelf solution could deliver this combination of features.

Our Solution

We designed and built the SuperCatch marketplace from scratch on Next.js, creating a custom multi-vendor platform with AI card recognition, comprehensive grading service integration, buyer protection systems, and seller storefronts. The platform covers sports cards, trading card games, autographs, and video games, with a commission-based business model (10% seller fee, zero buyer fees) and admin-approved listings for quality control.

Our Approach

Architected a multi-vendor marketplace platform on Next.js supporting independent seller storefronts, centralized search and discovery, and a unified checkout experience across multiple sellers.

Integrated AI-powered card recognition that allows sellers to photograph a card and automatically identify the player, year, brand, series, and card number -- dramatically reducing listing time.

Built comprehensive grading service support for PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC, WATA, and VGA, with condition specifications from Mint through Poor for ungraded cards, ensuring accurate marketplace categorization.

Designed a seller dashboard with store management, inventory tracking, listing creation with AI assistance, and sales analytics, making it easy for collectors of any size to sell professionally.

Implemented buyer protection with a 48-hour dispute window, photo documentation for disputes, 30-day return policy, and encrypted payment processing through multiple methods (credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay).

Created an admin approval workflow for all listings, ensuring quality control and policy compliance before items go live on the marketplace.

Built category-specific browsing experiences for Sports Cards, Trading Card Games (MTG, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!), Autographs, and Video Games, each with relevant filtering and sorting options.

The Results

Platform launched with 500+ seller store registrations within the first month of opening.

AI card recognition accuracy reached 94%, with sellers reporting 3x faster listing creation compared to manual entry.

Average marketplace session duration exceeded 8 minutes, indicating strong browsing engagement across categories.

The admin approval workflow achieved a 99.2% listing accuracy rate, building buyer trust from day one.

Multiple payment method integration drove a 28% higher checkout completion rate compared to industry benchmarks.

Mobile traffic accounts for 72% of all marketplace activity, validating the mobile-first design approach.

"

Building a marketplace from scratch is one of the hardest things in tech, and Webanto nailed it. The AI card recognition feature is what sets us apart -- sellers snap a photo and the listing practically creates itself. But what really impressed me was the attention to trust and safety. In the collectibles world, buyers need to trust the platform completely, and the admin approval system and buyer protection Webanto designed gives them that confidence.
